Conseur (European Consumers)
As a result of the unification brought about by the single market, consumers in the European Union are offered products and services which are more and more similar from one country to another. Producers have adapted to the single market. In response, consumer associations have to collaborate better at international level, in order to avoid an imbalance between consumers and producers/distributors. That is why consumer associations have come together within the European Conseur Group to supply consumers with reliable and objective information, in order to enable them to defend their purchasing power, their health, their safety, their rights and their quality of life. The Conseur Group defends the consumer interest and is totally independent of other interests, in particular those of producers and distributors and it is also independent of the public authorities. Conseur is also independent from political, trade union or philosophical trends. Conseur's income comes from sales of its publications and membership fees. Conseur does not accept any advertising in its publications. At the present time, Conseur is active in five countries. The history of Conseur and it's European dimension goes back to 1957. The Conseur Group publishes some 30 different magazines in five languages and employs more than 600 people. It's main magazine has more than 1 million subscribers. Conseur is therefore the largest independent consumer association in Europe.
